IFP Nigeria alum Joseph Effiong, who graduated from the School for International Training (SIT) in 2008 with a degree in Sustainable Development, has been awarded a 2011-2012 Fellowship at Appejay Stya University in Sohna, Haryana, India. He begins working at the University this month.
According to the Appejay Stya, “This prestigious fellowship offers teaching and research opportunity to meritorious scholars from all over the world.” An expert on the social and environmental consequences of the oil industry in Nigeria, Joseph will conduct advanced research and teach courses on issues including Organizational Behavior, Public Administration, and Project and Environmental Management.
Since graduating from SIT, Joseph has been working as the Executive Director of the Self Help Agriculture and Education Foundation in Uyo, Nigeria. He is also the author of several publications.
“My interest and passion has been on public policy advocacy, enlightenment, and research that fosters sustainable development and social change,” he recently told IFP. “I also work as Senior Research Fellow at the International Centre for Social Policy Research and Development, which publishes the
International Journal of Social Policy Research and Development.”
