Alumni from ten provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions -- Yunnan, Guizhou, Beijing, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Anhui, Sichuan, Chongqing, Xinjiang, Qinghai -- have held regional meetings with their regional representatives nominated. Alumni from the Tibet Autonomous Region have
connected with each other via e-mail and phone and submitted their report to IIE Beijing. In
addition, more than ten alumni from different regions, unable to meet face-to-face due to
geographical distance and conflicting schedules, gave their individual suggestions to IIE
Beijing.

In response to the suggestions of alumni highlighted in their respective reports and individual correspondences, IIE Beijing presided over an IFP China Alumni Meeting in Beijing on 22-23 March 2009. A total of 18 alumni attended this meeting, including all the regional representatives available. They came from 13 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions: Yunnan, Guizhou, Beijing, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Anhui, Sichuan, Chongqing, Tibet, Xinjiang, Qinghai, Guangxi, and Guangdong. There were four female alumni among them, and their cohorts span five years from 2001 to 2005.

At the meeting, IIE Beijing outlined the IFP China Alumni work from a historical perspective,
informed alumni in attendance of the new developments in the alumni work since IIE Beijing
took it over, and clarified the relationships among IFP Secretariat, Ford Foundation Beijing
Representative Office and IIE Beijing and their roles in the IFP China Alumni work. Alumni in
attendance explored in depth the purposes and goals of the IFP China Alumni and its work plan.
Assisted by the IIE Beijing office, the alumni present successfully elected the IFP China Alumni
working committee. The working committee is comprised of five members: Chen, Hao (Guizhou, 2004 Cohort), Gao, Guangshen (Sichuan/Shaanxi, 2003 Cohort), Gao, Song (Guizhou/Beijing, 2003 Cohort), Lai, Dafu (Fujian/Beijing, 2003 Cohort) and Li, Fafu (Qinghai, 2001 Cohort). All the five members of the working committee met that night and laid down their division of work, working procedures, and work goals in the next six months. The working committee will announce the relevant information in detail to the alumni across the country.
